What is Carpet Tile?

  • Carpet tiles are manufactured as square, rectangular, and in some cases hexagonal shaped pieces; instead of the usual 12-15’ width carpet roll.
  • Carpet tiles typically have backings that are either hard or soft cushioned, with or without adhesive.

What is Carpet Tile for?

  • Insulation for feet on a cold tile or concrete floor.
  • Ease of installation. The main advantage of using carpet tiles is that a specific tile or tiles can be easily removed and replaced with new ones when damaged or worn-down.
  • Reducing the noise from walking, especially useful on upper floors, and in apartment buildings.
  • Carpet tile, due to its durability, works and wears extremely well in high-traffic commercial applications.

What makes Carpet Tile unique?

  • Some carpet tiles feature an interlocking click system for simple installation.
  • If a tile ever becomes stained or damaged, replacement is as simple as replacing the tile itself.

What are some technical details?

  • Tile sizes start at around 18″x18″.
Nylon
  • Is one of the most common materials in the construction of carpets.
  • Nylon can be printed easily and has excellent wear characteristics.
  • Due it’s excellent wear-resistance, nylon is widely used in industrial and commercial carpeting.
Polypropylene
  • Commonly used to construct berber carpets.
  • Commercial grade styles wear very well, making them very suitable for areas with heavy foot traffic such as offices.
  • Polypropylene carpets are known to have good stain resistance, but not against oil-based agents.
